At a recent Wednesday evening event, instead of telling the story of the spiritual life of Jesus, we challenged each other to draw the story.

Saturday, February 20, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Traces of the Trade: Film and Day of Reflection

St. Thomas’ Parish in Newark will screen Katrina Brown’s personal documentary, which chronicles a unique and disturbing journey into the history and legacy of the U.S. slave trade. Worship, movie, lunch and optional small group discussions are free and open to all. Required reservations are due by Friday, Feb. 12. To register, and for details about this day of reflection, scroll to the bottom of St. Thomas's website. This event is co-sponsored by St. James Mill Creek and Episcopal Campus Ministry at the University of Delaware.

WANTED: A wicker or rattan love seat and chair in very good condition, to help furnish the office at St. Thomas's, Newark, of our new ECM Chaplain, Deacon Cecily Sawyer Harmon. This ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware and St. Thomas’s Parish, Newark reaches out to students at the University of Delaware through fellowship, communion, faith, and mission.

Fellowship

Our organization is active, an organization where there is caring and sharing for one another and the community at large. We have fun and deep conversations exploring our faith and who we are as children of God. We are well fed both spiritually and gastronomically. We meet weekly for program and fellowsip, and we have weekly Bible study. For details, see the Calendar to the right.

Communion

There will be opportunities to work with other faith groups on and off campus. As ECM members, we are part of a communion and eagerly participate in the Episcopal Church on Province-wide and National levels, attending conferences all over the U.S.

Faith

ECM members worship at St. Thomas's Church at both the Holy Eucharist, Rite II service at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays and at the 5:30 p.m. Inclusive Language Rite III service at 5:30 p.m. on Sundays. Both are followed by an informal reception and fellowsip. Friends are warmly welcomed.

Mission

We have been enriched by the work we have done on our mission trips and the new friends that we have met. We look forward to the many possibilities in the future. Click here to see photos of our trip to Romania in 2008 and to read an article about the trip.
